I forgot to post a commemoration site yesterday, sorry. I was working on my speeches, and just forgot to blog it before I went to bed. So without further ado, here's the site from yesterday that I would have posted:
Brices Crossroads was a battle that the Confederates during the Civil War, under Nathan Forrest, won. This, however, was part of Sherman's plan to keep Forrest in Mississippi and away from his own strategic movements (chronologically, this probably should have been blogged two days ago and what I blogged then today). The Union troops lost the battle, but in the end the battle helped keep Sherman's strategy intact and helped him complete his Southern campaign. In a way, it was a Pyrrhic victory.

Finally, for today I will just say that I am going to a july 4th celebration either at the local reservoir or at a local park, so that's my final commemorative site :D. Happy July 4th!
P.S. Did you know we actually declared independence on July 2, 1776? We only celebrate July 4th b/c that's when the Declaration was formally adopted.
